This is Tin Lizzie, Canada's antique automotive virtual museum specializing in online information, stories, facts and photos of cars built prior to World War I. This site is maintained by The Frontenac Ford Model T Collection.
Our focus is brass-era motorcars made in Canada during the early part of the twentieth century, up to 1914. This is the only period in Canadian automotive history when making horseless carriages didn't mean simply assembling US cars in Canada, although for the two most successful makers, Sam McLaughlin and Gordon McGregor ultimately it did. By 1914 the automotive industry in Canada was dominated by McGregor's Fords and Colonel Sam's McLaughlins.
Our purpose is to document early Canadian automobiles marques and manufacturers for education and enjoyment. Horseless carriages built in Canada before the First World War included names such as Dominion, Redpath, Tudhope, McKay, Galt Gas-Electric, Gray-Dort, The Brockville 30, The Brockville Atlas, C.C.M. and more. This website is dedicated to the story of the emerging Canadian automotive industry and is told through pictures, anecdotes and specifications.
If you have documented, verifiable information on a marque of pre-war automobile built in Canada prior to 1914 and you would like that information hosted here, please contact us. Please send all corrections, with verifiable references to the curator.
